About Us

The Timiskaming Health Unit, covering the district of Timiskaming including the amalgamated municipality of Temagami, ensures the best possible health of the community by providing population-based bilingual services that protect, promote, and prevent.

Your health unit is a non-profit agency that is publicly funded by the municipal and provincial governments.  In response to the health needs of the community:

• We provide health education, public education, public awareness campaigns and skill building opportunities.
• We advocate for public policy that supports good health such as healthy eating, active living and not smoking.
• We respond to natural and man-made environmental emergencies.
• We monitor the health status of the community.
• We provide clinical services.
• We partner with individuals, groups and agencies to provide optimum services.
