The Timiskaming District Pandemic Influenza Steering Committee (TDPISC) is a district-wide committee that has been established to achieve four main goals: - To ensure a contingency plan is in place for pandemic influenza for the District of Timiskaming, in order to minimize mortality, morbidity and social disruption from pandemic influenza
- To encourage, support and monitor the development and completion of Pandemic Influenza Plans and Business Continuity Plans of emergency service providers, health care providers and other key sectors
- To, at least annually, test, review and revise the contingency plan for pandemic influenza
- In the event of a pandemic, to recommend implementation of the contingency plan for pandemic influenza for the District of Timiskaming.
Key industrial sectors throughout the District are represented on this Committee, including: hospitals, municipalities, community care, community health, community living, the health unit, education, funeral services, long term care, emergency services, ambulance services, and social services. Meetings are held monthly, except during the summer months. Working Groups are constituted as needed to address specific issues that do not require people to meet on an ongoing basis. Minutes of the TDPISC are posted on this website and are available to anyone who wishes to review them. A contact list of Committee members is also posted on this website. Members are available to answer questions in relation to District-wide pandemic planning initiatives and the work of the Committee.
