  • Flu season continues until April
  • At least 1 in 3 people could still get H1N1
  • 1 in 5 people hospitalized with H1N1 have ended up in intensive care on ventilators.
  • Half of those in hospital with H1N1 have been under 24 years old

THE H1N1 AND SEASONAL FLU VACCINES ARE AVAILABLE TO EVERYONE OVER THE AGE OF 6 MONTHS
To get your H1N1 and/or Seasonal flu shot, visit any of our offices or contact your health care provider to see if they are offering the vaccines. 

Attention parents and caregivers:

Some children who received the H1N1 flu shot require a second dose. Please note that a second dose is required for all children under 3 years and children from 3 to 9 years who have an underlying medical condition. This second dose is recommended at least 21 days after receiving the first shot. If your child requires a second shot, please visit one of the above community clinics, any of the Timiskaming Health Unit offices or contact your healthcare provider.

Pregnant women can receive the unadjuvanted vaccine at any of the Timiskaming Health Unit offices.

The Driven to Quit Challenge is a health promotion campaign that encourages Ontario adult smokers and tobacco users to make a quit attempt for the month of March 2010. An amendment to the Smoke-Free Ontario Act banning adults from smoking in cars where children under the age of 16 are present comes into effect January 21st, 2009. For more information about creating a smoke-free ride, click here
