Immunization

By appointment only. Travel-related vaccinations postponed.

  • Work and medical-related tuberculosis (TB) tests are offered
  • High-risk immunization renal dialysis is offered (case-by-case basis)
  • Rabies vaccinations for animal bites
  • School-related vaccinations
  • COVID-19 vaccinations
  • Flu shots: high dose and children under 5 (by request)

Sexual Health

By appointment only. All services available (in-person or virtual; case-by-case basis). 

Harm Reduction

Services continue as normal. Needle exchange program still available. Tips for Substance Use during COVID-19

 Smoking cessation

  • Nicotine Replacement Therapy Vouchers available for pick-up in-office.
  • Other supports offered virtually.

Public Health Inspection

  • Regular inspections will stop, complaint follow-up only.
  • On-call items (Boil Water Advisory, animal bites, etc.) will continue.
  • Food premise inspections: shifted to complaint based follow-up.
  • Tobacco/Vape Inspections: shifted to complaint based follow-up.
  • Adverse Water Quality Incidents (AWQI) follow-up.
  • Animal bite exposure follow-up.
  • Private well water testing is available.
  • Outbreak and reportable diseases work continues.

Urgent services only. 

Mask mandate and exemptions

All visitors, clients, and staff are required to wear a mask or face covering upon entering Timiskaming Health Unit offices and clinic spaces. The mask or face covering must cover the nose, mouth and chin.

The following individuals do not need to wear a mask or face covering:

  • Children who are younger than two years old
  • People who are unable to put on or remove their mask without help
  • People who have a medical condition that inhibits their ability to wear a mask
  • People who are receiving accommodations according to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 or the Human Rights Code.
