Schools are a great place to keep children active!

Contact Timiskaming Health Unit to learn more about building healthy schools.

Compared to their inactive peers, active children and youth:

  •       do better in school
  •       have better mental health
  •       have improved social skills

Schools offer a unique environment to support physical activity and sport skill development for students

In addition to gym classes, recess and other traditional physical activity opportunities, teachers can encourage an active living lifestyle by modelling to students the benefits of being active as well as by coming up with creative ways to incorporate physical activity into everyday classroom activities.
