Healthy Schools Framework

A healthy school promotes physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being for the whole school community. It’s a healthy environment to learn, work, and play. A Healthy Schools approach involves the whole school community coming together to take action to help kids lead healthy and active lives. 

School staff, parents and community partners can access the Timiskaming Health Unit’s specialized services related to environmental health, family health, immunization, oral health, sexual health, tobacco enforcement, workplace wellness, and school health promotion.

We can also collaborate with school community members in ways that work best for your school. We can join meetings for student council, parent council meetings, youth groups, or any health-related group.

School Public Health Nurses (PHNs)

School nurses work as a team to support elementary and secondary schools for all school health needs.
